Pathways

Pathways offers educational resources for parents, caregivers, and healthcare professionals to support the growth and development of children. Their mission is to provide free tools to maximize all children’s motor, sensory, and communication development. They empower parents to understand and encourage their baby’s development to keep them on track or catch potential delays early.

Pathways provides free parenting videos on its website and app to show parents exactly what to expect. They also offer on-demand courses, webinars, and more to help keep children on track and catch potential delays early. Brochures and milestone checklists are available for free in many languages, and their free baby milestones app helps parents monitor baby’s progress.

Illinois Guardianship and Advocacy Commission

The Illinois Guardianship and Advocacy Commission protects the rights and promotes the welfare of persons with disabilities. The Commission is an executive state agency created to safeguard the rights of persons with disabilities. By providing legal representation, investigating complaints of rights violations, and providing state guardianship for Illinois’ population with disabilities, the Commission has given voice to those who have previously gone unheard.

Visit the website above for contact information and guardianship-focused details related to the Office of State Guardian (such as guardianship training and OSG forms), the Human Rights Authority (guardianship fact sheet, sexual education, and sexual rights), the Legal Advocacy Service (clients facing judicial proceedings, advanced directive forms), and the Special Education Initiative (SPED FAQs, supported decision-making).

Illinois ABLE

IL ABLE is a savings and investment plan that makes it possible for people with disabilities and their families to save and invest their money for expenses related to living with a disability. ABLE Accounts can help solve a long-time predicament that many people with disabilities face: how to build financial wellness without risking much-needed federal government benefits. IL ABLE is sponsored by the State of Illinois and administered by the Office of the Illinois State Treasurer.

Illinois Council on Developmental Disabilities

The Illinois Council on Developmental Disabilities works to promote the independence, productivity, integration, and inclusion of those with disabilities into the community, ensuring that those individuals with developmental disabilities have the same opportunities as others in the community. Their mission is to ensure that people with developmental disabilities participate and are included in everyday life and can choose the services and supports that best fit their needs. To accomplish this, ICDD invests in people and organizations serving people with disabilities throughout the State of Illinois.

ICDD’s online library of resources is free and includes materials on employment, assistive technology, specific disabilities, law, parenting, inclusion, and more. Their DSP Toolkit helps individuals and families find, choose, and keep great DSPs!
